Preventing the risk of consuming addictive substances depends on proper management of the pocket money assigned to young people by families

The ‘Promoting Healthy Habits in Berriozar’ community group has conducted a study to\r\ndetermine lifestyles in relation to substance abuse of young people between 12 and 15\r\nyears (inclusive). Substance use increases with age, involving a quantitative leap among\r\nyoung people in first and second grade with respect to those who are in third and fourth\r\ngrade. The average alcohol consumption is higher than the percentage for tobacco and\r\nmarijuana (which are very similar to each other) and is associated with high levels of\r\nmonthly pocket money received by young people from their families. The consumption\r\nof an addictive substance relates to the use of other substances (poly-consumption) due\r\nto risk-taking by young people (when they believe that they ‘control’ one substance, this\r\ngoes on to `controlling’ another substance). It is considered necessary to review Regional\r\nLaw 24/2014 that regulates the consumption of marijuana in associations in Navarre, to\r\npromote a reduction in the consumption of this substance among teenagers.
