The role of resilience in emotional dependence and psychological abuse

Emotional dependence is defined as a need for continuous and excessive affection and contact
on the part of the couple which could at times be linked to psychological abuse, and resilience
may be a related factor in both. This study aims to study the relationship of resilience with emotional
dependence and psychological abuse, as well as its predictive and mediating role in both.
Likewise, the differences in the variables mentioned according to age are analyzed. The sample is
made up of 299 people, 237of whom are women and 62 men, aged between 18 and 64 years
(M = 29,53; DT = 10,81). The results show how emotional dependence and psychological abuse
decrease as resilience increases. Similarly, the predictive capacity of high resilience over the absence
of dependence and psychological abuse has been proven, as well as its mediating capacity in the
relationship between the last two.
