The SPU (Social Prevention Unit) and the Provincial Prevention Plan in Huelva

The nationwide crisis situation required Social Welfare Services to make an effort to\r\nreach citizens not only effectively but also efficiently all over the province. In an innovative\r\nendeavour the Social Welfare Area of the Huelva’s Diputación Provincial authority has\r\nlaunched the Social Prevention Unit (SPU), a service which aims to channel and enhance all\r\nthe preventive effort made by the social, community, equality and drug addiction services,\r\nall resources that tackle problems closely related with citizens’ quality of life. It starts out\r\nfrom the political, social, scientific and technical consensus about prevention value in the\r\nsocial sphere, and the need to invest effort and resources before problems appear or at\r\ntheir very beginning, with the aim of improving citizens’ qualify of life in its municipalities.\r\nThis new Service enables extending knowledge of the social reality of the province, also\r\nacting as an efficient instrument for unifying and coordinating the preventive strategies in\r\neach sector, offering a comprehensive and inclusive response that combines global vision\r\nand local action. The Provincial Prevention Plan comes forward as the answer for the\r\nintervention required in the social reality of the Province, giving a meaning, unifying and\r\ndivulging the Prevention work done in Huelva.
